Manchester train delays after vehicle hits railway bridge

Train passengers are facing delays this afternoon (Monday, August 17) after a vehicle crashed into a railway bridge in Manchester. The incident occurred between Manchester Piccadilly and Levenshulme railway stations.

Reduced speeds and delays

As a result, trains using the line are running at reduced speeds, with delays reported. Disruption is expected until at least 5pm.

Transpennine Express said: "Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Manchester Piccadilly and Levenshulme trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines."

Impact on services

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or diverted. Disruption is expected until 17:00 17/08.

Due to a bridge strike, all lines between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport or Stockport are running at reduced speed.
