Temperatures in Liverpool are set to peak at 32C on Wednesday (August 12) as an amber heat-health alert remains in force for Merseyside. The alert, issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), came into effect on Tuesday morning and will stay in place until Friday (August 14).
Strong sunshine and rapid temperature rise
The Met Office forecasts plenty of strong sunshine across the region until Friday. Tuesday is expected to be dry with strong sunshine, though wispy high cloud may make it hazier at times. Maximum temperatures are predicted to reach 26C.
On Wednesday, temperatures will rise rapidly during the morning, reaching a high of 32C in Liverpool. The Met Office said: "Dry with lots of strong sunshine, temperatures rising rapidly during the morning. High level cloud will make the skies a little hazy at times. Feeling very warm and locally hot."
Heatwave continues into Thursday
Heatwave conditions will persist into Thursday, with many areas of the UK expected to see another day of strong sunshine. The North West remains under the amber alert, which was issued by the UKHSA and is active until Friday.
As the weekend approaches, temperatures will begin to drop to the low 20s. The Met Office noted: "Very warm or hot on Thursday with plenty of strong sunshine. Turning a little fresher and cloudier from Friday with perhaps the odd shower."
