Jeremy Clarkson has received an outpouring of support from fans and viewers of Clarkson's Farm after he shared a frustrating update about his farming life amid rising temperatures.
The show, which first aired in 2021, follows Jeremy's ongoing project of running his Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds with the help of 28-year-old farmer Kaleb Cooper. The new series sees Jeremy making major changes to the Diddly Squat operation, heavily driven by the fallout from a strict government budget that sends the UK farming community into an uproar.
Frustration Over Weather
Meanwhile, the crops receive high-tech treatment, the team navigates government pressure, heavy taxes, and the complexities of expanding into a traditional pub. However, Jeremy took to Instagram to express his frustration over this upcoming week's weather forecast. Showing that it's set to reach 29 degrees Celsius in Chipping Norton this Sunday (August 9), Jeremy penned: "Harvest already f***ed. May as well just enjoy it now."
Heatwave Conditions
Temperatures are set to climb to 32C in Greater Manchester this week as the fifth heatwave of the year approaches the UK. Elsewhere in the country, heat health alerts have come into force, with some areas set to see scorching highs of 36C next week. The yellow heat health alerts became active at 9am on Saturday (August 8) and will run until 9pm on Tuesday (August 11). Only the North East and North West are not covered by health alerts.
The Met Office said temperatures will climb through the weekend as heatwave conditions return next week, with a high of 36C expected in parts of East Anglia and south-east England by Thursday (August 13). In Greater Manchester, it hit 27C on Saturday, with highs of around 23C and 22C forecast on Sunday and Monday, according to Met Office forecasts. By Tuesday, temperatures will rise to around 28C, before climbing up to 32C in some areas on Wednesday (August 12).
There have been 33 days this year so far where temperatures have exceeded 30C. Several wildfires also broke out in the UK over recent weeks, including blazes in Greater Manchester that burned for nearly three weeks.
Impact on Harvest
A heatwave hurts the UK harvest by stunting crop growth, drying out soil, and depleting water sources. High temperatures cause plants like grains and vegetables to ripen too fast or wither before full size, leading to lower yields, smaller produce, and higher food costs.
