A Met Office yellow thunderstorm warning is in force across Greater Manchester and large parts of the UK today, from 5am until 10pm. Thunderstorms and heavy rain may cause disruption, including flooding, lightning strikes, delays or cancellations to public transport, and possible power cuts.
North West outlook
In the North West, the dry start will turn cloudier with heavy, thundery rain pushing northwards through the late afternoon and during the evening. Lightning and large hail are also possible. Temperatures will remain warm, with a maximum of 22C.
More heavy showers and thunder continue northwards tonight, eventually turning drier with some clearer spells. The minimum temperature will be 12C.
Friday forecast
Tomorrow (Friday 28) will start mostly dry, but patchy rain will build, turning heavier through the morning with thunder in places. This will ease through the afternoon, but temperatures will stay warm with a maximum of 22C.
