The charity shared the findings on Facebook, telling animal lovers: "The results from our National Dog Survey are IN! And of course, we're starting with the nation's most popular dog names." The post included lists of the top ten male and female dog names, allowing owners to see if their pet made the cut.
Poppy and Milo Top the Charts
The survey found that Poppy is the most popular name for female dogs, while Milo has overtaken Teddy to become the top name for males. The top ten lists also include Buddy, Max, and Alfie for boys, and Bella, Ruby, and Luna for girls.
According to Dogs Trust, "Poppy topped the charts for female dogs, while Milo overtook Teddy to gain top spot for males." The charity also noted that while the top 10 has largely remained unchanged, this year's results show a resurgence of traditional names for newly named dogs, with names like Winnie and Mabel soaring in popularity in recent years.

Pet owners can check more names on the Dogs Trust website, which features a search tool that allows animal lovers to see how their dog's name compares. The tool covers names from A to Z, based on 180,000 responses. For example, Dogs Trust reports hearing about 818 dogs named Archie and 544 dogs named Ziggy in the recent survey. Owners can also provide additional details, such as their dog's size and breed, to get more detailed results.
