easyJet has issued an 'important' alert to all travellers taking luggage on flights this summer. The airline released an 'important safety notice update' earlier this week, detailing regulations on certain items.
The notice states: "Laptops must be carried in hand baggage only and must not be placed in checked (hold) luggage. E-cigarettes and vaping devices must also remain in hand baggage only and be switched off at all times. Customers must take extra care to avoid accidently turning them on while on board the plane."
Power Bank Restrictions
Regarding power banks, the update says: "A maximum of two power banks is allowed per person. Power banks cannot be charged or used to charge other devices during the flight. They should still be carried in cabin baggage only and ideally be placed somewhere where they can be easily monitored."
easyJet follows all regulatory requirements set by aviation safety authorities, and the safety of customers and crew remains its highest priority.
EES Border Checks
Separately, easyJet reminds passengers that airports throughout Europe may face longer queues at passport control due to the new European Entry/Exit System (EES). Travellers with UK passports may need to provide biometric data, including facial scans and fingerprints, at border checks.
easyJet recommends downloading its app for real-time notifications, having relevant documents ready, and arriving with plenty of time. Its guidance adds: "You may experience extended wait times on arrival at your destination airport, so consider this when planning onward travel. Additional checks may also apply at your departure airport when leaving the EU, so please also allow extra time at the airport. Be aware that there may be further checks at passport control after security and before reaching your gate."
