Firefighters rushed to a residential street in Sutton, south London, after a bus burst into flames, with dramatic footage showing flames shooting from the rear of the vehicle.

The incident occurred on Lind Road, where thick black smoke billowed into the sky as stunned residents watched. Passengers managed to escape the bus before crews arrived, and firefighters battled the blaze for around an hour before bringing it under control.

No injuries reported

The bus was left partially damaged by the fire, but there were no reports of injuries. Fire crews from Purley, Croydon, Wallington and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters responded to reports of a fire involving a bus on Lind Road, Sutton.

“A single-deck bus was partially damaged as a result of the fire. All passengers left the vehicle before crews arrived.

“Once the fire was extinguished, crews worked to make the scene safe.

“The Brigade received the first of eight calls reporting the fire at 1259, and the incident was over for crews by 1343.”
