Reason for recall
According to B&Q, the affected fan has 'an electrical component may overheat leading to a fire or electric shock risk'. The company advises anyone who purchased one of these models during that period to stop using it right away and return it to their nearest B&Q store.
The recall alert was issued on Tuesday, August 4. The UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards also reiterated the warning, ranking the risk level as 'medium'. It stated: "The product presents a risk of electric shock and fire as there is a fault within the oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring."

The recalled product is a 23cm (9") white table fan, model FT23AB, with barcode 5063022605689 and batch numbers 25W50, 26W05, and 26W11. It was manufactured by Kingfisher International Products Limited in China.
Corrective action: The product has been recalled from end users by B&Q. Customers with questions are asked to visit their local store or contact B&Q's customer services team. The Office for Product Safety and Standards also urged people to share the warning with friends and family who may have the product.
