Motorists in Newcastle are facing rush hour delays this morning after a vehicle fire on a major route. One lane is currently closed on the A1 and traffic is building up due to recovery work following the earlier incident.
Where the delays are
The fire occurred on the A1 Western Bypass southbound from J80 A19 (Seaton Burn) to J79 A1056 (Gosforth Park). There are also delays on the A19 northbound between B1319 Dudley Lane and A1 J80 (Seaton Burn).
Recovery work under way
Recovery work is ongoing at the scene, and traffic is building up as a result. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys this morning.
