Sheringham, a seaside town on the Norfolk coast, has been described by visitors as a place where 'time slows down', with its colourful cottages, fresh sea breeze and the sound of waves creating an atmosphere that makes people want to stay longer.
Located just an hour north of Norwich, the town has a population of 7,367 residents, according to the 2011 census. Although it may appear unremarkable at first glance, many tourists say they feel as though they have stepped back in time upon arriving.
Award-winning beach and local attractions
The town boasts an award-winning beach, stunning nature and parks to explore, alongside local and military museums. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, from relaxing on the shore to exploring the charming high street.
One woman shared her experience of visiting the town on TikTok, describing it as a place 'where time slowed down'. In the caption of her video, she wrote: "Sheringham - a cosy seaside town where time slows down. Colourful cottages, fresh sea breeze, and the sound of waves - it's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer."
Vintage charm and seaside delights
The footage opened with a woman, dressed in a blue dress and wearing a sunhat, strolling along the platform at the train station. The clip was shot from inside what appeared to be a vintage train, which gave the impression of having travelled back through time.
The video also showcased the town's high street, adorned with vibrant bunting strung overhead, before capturing a procession of elderly women dancing and marching through the town centre. The creator then turned their attention to the beach, where visitors were enjoying the scenery and taking part in various activities in the blue waters, despite the overcast conditions.
Strolling past pastel-coloured buildings, the creator made their way to an ice cream parlour, where she treated herself to a chocolate-dipped cone generously filled with ice cream. The trip was completed with a glimpse of local wildlife, spotting a seagull perched atop a wall, keenly watching the passers-by below.
