Scots mum dies suddenly on Benidorm holiday after falling ill

A 'loving and devoted' mum from Fife has died suddenly while on holiday in Benidorm. June Fetter, 63, passed away after a short but 'incredibly difficult' fight in the Spanish resort.

The popular Fife woman loved singing and was known in her local community as the 'Karaoke Queen.' Her daughter Hollie said her family, who had flown out to be by her side, are struggling to come to terms with losing someone who was so 'full of life, happiness and laughter.'

Family's tribute to 'Karaoke Queen'

Hollie said: "Mum was the most loving and devoted mum we could ever have asked for. She was caring, fun, bubbly and would genuinely do anything for anyone.

"She had a way of bringing happiness wherever she went, and anyone who knew her will know just how much life she had in her. Mum was also a singer, and music was such a huge part of who she was. Her voice, her laughter and her infectious personality will stay with us forever.

"We were able to make it across to Benidorm to be by mum's side in her final moments. We are so grateful that we were able to be there, hold her close and tell her how much we love her."

GoFundMe launched to cover costs

The family now face a huge bill to cover the cost of repatriating June's body back to Scotland and funeral expenses. June's children have launched a GoFundMe page which has so far raised £11,327 of a £14,000 target.

Hollie added: "None of us could ever have imagined having to face something like this, and we simply weren't prepared for the financial burden that comes with losing someone so unexpectedly abroad. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has reached out, shared memories of mum and supported us through the most difficult time of our lives."

Her son Darren said: "You were so loved by us all and many more. You were one in a billion. I will miss you everyday for the rest of my life. Keep singing up there sweetheart. I am absolutely heartbroken beyond measure."

Donations can be made to the family's GoFundMe page.
