Porky's Wins North East Sunday Dinner Poll 2026

Porky's in Bebside has been crowned the winner of ChronicleLive's best Sunday dinner poll for 2026, securing 3,661 votes, which represents 33% of the final tally.

More than 11,000 readers cast votes in the poll, with 11 venues shortlisted from locations including Sunderland, Blyth, Chester-le-Street, and rural Northumberland.

How the Shortlist Was Built

To create the shortlist, a form was opened where readers could suggest any venue in the North East. Nearly 700 suggestions were received, and the venues with the most nominations were shortlisted. This produced a list of 11 places, which was then put to a public vote.

Top Five Results

Placing second was The Lambton Worm, voted favourite by 2,352 people, equating to 21.2% of the votes. Third place went to The Turbinia in Walker, with 2,286 votes.

Fourth position was taken by The Tempus, which received 938 votes, while Gateshead's The Skiff Inn completed the top five with 709 votes.

Next Steps

Votes are now being sought for the best place in the North East for a curry, with the winner announced this weekend. The shortlist of the top 10 nominated curry restaurants is available to view.
