Chaos erupted at 30,000 feet as a Jet2 flight from Alicante to Belfast was forced into an emergency diversion following a major onboard disturbance. The dramatic incident, captured on video by fellow passengers, saw a man detained by police on the tarmac to a chorus of applause from relieved travellers.

The LS731 flight, operated by Jet2, was en route to Belfast International Airport when a heated altercation between a passenger and cabin crew escalated. The nature of the row remains unclear, but the captain made the decision to divert the aircraft to the nearest suitable airport to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
The plane was rerouted to Stansted Airport in Essex, a major hub for handling aviation security incidents. Upon landing, the aircraft was met by a waiting team of Essex Police officers on the runway.

A spokesperson for Jet2.com confirmed the incident, stating: "We can confirm that flight LS731 from Alicante to Belfast International diverted to London Stansted Airport due to a disruptive passenger on board."
They emphasised the airline's zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour, adding, "The aircraft landed safely and was met by police who removed the passenger. We would like to apologise to customers for the delay and any upset caused by the behaviour of this individual."
An Essex Police spokesman confirmed: "We were called to reports of a disruptive passenger on an inbound flight to Stansted Airport just after 5.30pm on Tuesday, September 17. The plane landed safely and officers attended. A man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence."
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences facing passengers who fail to comply with aviation safety regulations, potentially facing lifetime bans from airlines and criminal prosecution.
