A full-scale replica of the historic Nao Santa María is set to arrive at Liverpool's Royal Albert Dock from August 12 to 15, as part of an international historical outreach tour. The vessel, known for its role in the European discovery of the Americas, will visit 30 ports this year, with support from Huelva Provincial Council.

Construction and background

The replica was built by the Nao Victoria Foundation in Punta Umbría, Huelva, Spain, with backing from Huelva Provincial Council and the Cajasol Foundation. Construction took 14 months, from January 2017 to March 2018, resulting in a faithful recreation of one of history's most iconic ships.

Visit details and boarding

The ship will be open from 10am to 8pm each day, though dates and times may change due to weather. Visitors can step on board and explore the four decks via a self-guided tour, with information panels and period features. The crew will be available to discuss life aboard in the 15th century.

Tickets are available online, with an exclusive discount promotion valid until August 11. If online tickets sell out, no further tickets will be available at the box office. Prices are £6 for children aged 5-10 (under 5 free), £12 for adults, and £30 for families (2 adults and up to 3 children). Groups of more than 10 can book guided tours by emailing ecampos@fundacionnaovictoria.org.

The visit is aimed at the general public, schools, and associations, offering a cultural and educational experience that transports visitors back to the era of the great navigators.
