Liverpool Airport Issues Summer Travel Alert with Three Key Instructions
Liverpool Airport Summer Alert: Three Key Instructions

Liverpool John Lennon Airport bosses have issued a new alert to passengers flying out of the travel hub this summer. Millions of people are expected to depart from Liverpool over the coming months, and in a bid to help people be aware of the rules and make things run more smoothly, an update has been shared - with holidaymakers instructed to do three things.

Three-Step Security Process

A post from the airport's official X account reads: "Flying out of Liverpool John Lennon Airport this summer? Here's a look at how to use our new security machines." A video accompanying the post shows a man demonstrate how to use the security machine. Text across the video gives three instructions:

  • Take your tray from underneath and place it on top.
  • Please empty your pockets and place any jackets and belts into the tray. Ensure these items are either underneath your bag or placed inside your bag. You can also leave liquids and electronics inside your bag.
  • Once everything is in your tray, push your tray forward and proceed to the scanners.

Liquid Rules Remain

As stated above, liquids no longer need to go through the scanner in a separate and clear bag. However the 100ml rule is still in place - liquid containers in your hand luggage cannot exceed this volume. The definition of "liquids" also covers gels, aerosols, pastes (such as toothpaste), canned goods in sauces, perfume, foundation, make-up (including mascara), powders, e-cigarette cartridges and lighters (only one permitted per person).

Exemptions and Additional Allowances

There are some exemptions to the 100ml rule, such as specific medications and baby food or milk, though these must be taken out of your luggage for screening. All airlines operating from Liverpool John Lennon Airport allow you to bring one bag of airport shopping onboard your flights, alongside your hand luggage allowance.
