A Journey to the Top
Standing at 13,642 feet—9,000 feet higher than Ben Nevis, the UK's biggest mountain—Jungfrau's peaks are snow-covered all year. Despite a fear of heights, the journey from Interlaken begins with a scenic train ride through meadows, peaks, farms, and chalets to the Grindelwald Terminal.
From there, a 20-minute cable car scales thousands of feet, flying past the north face of the Eiger. The final leg is a near-vertical train ride through the mountain's heart, arriving at the top.
At the Summit
Visitors are advised to acclimate to the high altitude to avoid sickness. The summit features a clearly signposted tour taking at least 90 minutes, including the Sphinx platform and observatory, one of the world's highest, with epic views. Ice sculptures, tunnels, snow sports, and the world's highest Lindt chocolate shop are also available, though prices are steep.
