Jet2 twilight check-in at 12 UK airports including Liverpool and Manchester

Jet2 has confirmed a check-in rule at 12 UK airports, including Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The service allows passengers with flights before midday to check in and drop off their luggage during a four-and-a-half-hour window the day before travel.

How the twilight check-in works

Traditionally, passengers need to arrive at the departure airport at least two hours before their flight, queue at check-in desks to get boarding passes, and drop off luggage. However, the budget airline offers a twilight check-in service at select airports across the country, which enables passengers to avoid this long process.

As the Express reports, passengers can complete the check-in the night before instead. This makes arrival at the airport less stressful, as passengers save valuable time on the day of their flight by heading straight to security. It also means they can bypass long check-in queues to drop off their bags.

Eligible airports

Jet2’s twilight check-in is only available to passengers with flights due to depart before midday from one of 12 UK airports. Both Liverpool and nearby Manchester Airport are two of the 12 with the twilight check-in available.

The full list of airports is: Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow International, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester, and Newcastle.

Step-by-step guide

A guide on Jet2's website explains how the service works. It said: "Check in online. You need to do this no later than 24 hours before your flight, but to make sure you don’t miss out, we recommend you check in as soon as online check-in opens, 28 days before you travel."

"Drop your bags at the airport. One person in your party can drop off up to six people's bags. Simply take your luggage to the airport between 16:30-21:00 the evening before your flight. Don't forget your boarding passes and passports!"

"Sail straight through to security. On the morning of your flight, bypass check-in and head to security. Relax and enjoy your getaway!"

The summer holiday season is nearing its closing stages, so the new service could be something families take advantage of as they jet off to get some well-needed sunshine before the autumn arrives.
