A Jet2 flight from Palma de Mallorca to Bristol was delayed on 16 August after a ground vehicle collided with the plane's wing tip, leaving passengers stranded for hours.
Incident details
The incident occurred on flight LS1872, which had been due to depart at 10.25am. Passengers were forced to disembark after the boarding stairs clipped the wing tip of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Passenger account
One passenger sent a picture and a short clip to Bristol Live, saying: "I’m in Palma airport and a ground stairs vehicle has just hit the wing tip of our Jet2Holidays B737 Max 8 aircraft."
The passenger added: "Once boarded, we were told it was due to be delayed for two hours because of an air traffic restriction. An hour later, we were told we were good to go. Minutes later, the ground vehicle collided with the wing tip."
Further delays
After being sent back to the terminal, passengers waited for another hour or so before being told they could get back on the plane. The plane was due to take off at 3pm local time (2pm UK time) and was scheduled to arrive back in the UK at 4pm, more than four hours late.
