Jet2 has confirmed it will automatically increase the baggage allowance for families travelling with infants, free of charge. The extra allowance amounts to 10kg per infant, but only applies to bookings that already include hold luggage.
How the infant baggage allowance works
An infant is defined by Jet2 as a child under the age of two on the date of departure. Infants do not have their own baggage allowance, but the airline will add the extra 10kg per infant to the family's existing hold allowance.
The additional allowance does not need to be pre-booked. It will simply be added by the Jet2 team at check-in.
Free items for children and infants
Alongside the extra hold allowance, passengers travelling with children or infants can bring up to two free items per child. These items include a collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy, a car seat or booster seat, and a baby.
Each of these items must weigh no more than 32kg. Any extra items, or weight beyond the allowance, will be charged as standard excess baggage. Passengers can keep their pushchair with them right up to the point they reach the steps or airbridge before boarding.
Milk and onboard assistance
Passengers travelling with infants can bring enough baby milk for their journey, which does not have to comply with the 100ml liquid limit for security. According to government guidelines, breast milk is allowed in containers up to 2,000ml. Liquids may be tested at security.
Cabin crew can heat milk up onboard, although passengers are advised to bring their own container for powder in case only hot water is available.
Jet2 allows all infants under two to travel for free, as long as they are under two at the time of travel. The policy applies to Jet2holidays as well as seat-only Jet2.com flights.
