Glasgow Airport has revealed which destinations its passengers have been travelling to most in 2026 so far. The official list shows a range of holiday styles, from Mediterranean beach breaks and European city trips to Caribbean getaways.
Top five destinations
New York, USA (Newark) tops the list. Based in New Jersey, the area has a thriving arts scene, top restaurants and plenty of green space. With Manhattan less than 30 minutes away, it is an ideal base for an East Coast trip.
Rome, Italy, is second, offering centuries of history, buzzing café life and world-class food. Ancient ruins and striking architecture are around every corner, making it a strong European city-break choice.
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, is third, known for year-round sunshine, crystal-clear seas, luxury resorts, coral reefs and diving. Desert excursions offer a break from the beach.
Dubrovnik, Croatia, called the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, pairs medieval history with coastal scenery. Visitors can walk the ancient city walls and swim in clear water. Hanover, Germany, completes the top five, with elegant gardens, museums, a busy shopping scene and Christmas markets.
Sixth to tenth places
The remaining top destinations, ranked from sixth to tenth, are: Bridgetown, Barbados; Malta; Agadir, Morocco; Kos, Greece; and Reus, Spain.
Barbados is recommended for luxury travellers, couples, families and beach lovers. Malta suits couples, families and history fans. Agadir appeals to families, couples and beach lovers. Kos is described as a classic Greek island getaway, and Reus offers an authentic Spanish city break close to the coast.
Coffee guide for passengers
Glasgow Airport has also put together a guide to where passengers can get a pre-flight coffee. A range of spots serve familiar favourites and local options. Some locations are before security, so people dropping off travellers can also get a drink without a boarding pass.
