A 66-year-old British woman has died after a parasailing accident in Benidorm, Spain. The incident occurred off the coast of the popular holiday resort, where the woman was parasailing with her husband.
Accident Details
The tragedy happened around 6pm in Benidorm's Rincon de Loix area. The couple went ahead with the activity despite yellow flag weather conditions. A strong gust of wind caused the parasailing line to break, sending the woman crashing into rocks.
She went into cardiac arrest on impact. Paramedics reportedly revived her briefly after she fell “from a great height” onto the rocks, but she was pronounced dead at the scene after being taken to Benidorm Port.
Injuries and Investigation
The woman's husband is believed to have suffered injuries including broken ribs and was described as “walking wounded.” His nationality is not yet clear. Police and hospital officials could not be reached for comment.
Witnesses described seeing the parasail spiral out of control after the line broke. One told local press: “It was clear they were going to crash.” A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
