Booking the right cruise cabin can have a big impact on a holiday, and Marella Cruises' Cruise Director Scott Sanders has a clear favourite for passengers who want to be close to the action.
While onboard Marella Voyager, Sanders was asked which cabin is the best one to book, particularly for those hoping to be near the bars, shows and general entertainment. His answer: midship.

"Midship on decks five, six, eight, nine and ten," he said. "When my parents come on board, they always request a cabin in middle ships. Easy access for kitchens, the theatre, the Squid & Anchor pub."
For those sailing on Marella Voyager specifically, Sanders says midship on deck 5 is among the best spots to book a cabin.
Of course, the recommendation applies to travellers who like being closer to the pubs and venues. Cabin choice is personal – some prefer a balcony suite with views, while others choose a cheaper inside cabin because they plan to spend most of their time enjoying the onboard activities.
Ask questions early
Sanders has put together a "new to cruise" presentation for guests, which proved so popular it was rolled out across the entire Marella Cruises fleet. One of his top tips is to ask all questions at the start of a sailing, so passengers don't find out something at the end that might have made a difference to their holiday.
"Not asking questions when they've got questions," he said, describing the common mistake he sees. "People get frustrated when they go home that they didn't know that information. There's never a silly question!"
Find your way with carpet colours
The presentation also gives passengers tips on navigating the ship. Sanders explained: "They get to ask questions, and we give them top tips like, the front of the ship is the blue carpet, the middle of the ship is the red carpet, the back is the green carpet."
