A Juicy Couture tracksuit may be comfortable for travel, but its diamante embellishments can cause security delays at airports. Travel journalist Danielle Wroe was warned by security staff that wearing such items could lead to being pulled aside for additional checks.
Danielle's Experience at Airport Security
Danielle Wroe, a senior social news reporter, recounted her experience while traveling. She wore a Juicy Couture tracksuit with diamante lettering on the back. At security, a staff member asked if her pants matched the top. When she confirmed, the officer chuckled and warned she would likely be flagged by the scanners.
“Sure enough, when I went through the scanner, something triggered, and it turned out to be my tracksuit,” Wroe said. She was asked to check her pockets and undergo a shoe inspection. The officer advised her to avoid wearing the tracksuit in the future to prevent being stopped.
Why Diamante Embellishments Cause Issues
Security scanners are sensitive to metal, and even small amounts in diamante decorations can trigger alarms. Wroe admitted she was unsure if the diamantes contained metal, but noted she often sets off scanners due to jewelry. The Juicy Couture tracksuit added to the problem.

Wroe is not alone. Several women on X reported similar issues. One user wrote: “My bedazzled Juicy Couture track pants set off the airport security scanner and I had to get a pat down and an explosives test.” Another said: “I went through airport security in my Juicy Couture pants, and the bum got flagged.”
Tips to Avoid Airport Security Delays
To minimize delays, travelers should avoid clothing with sequins, heavy embellishments, or metallic threads. Opt for plain, comfortable attire without decorative elements. Wroe admitted she may still wear her tracksuit despite the warnings, but advises others to consider the potential hassle.
