Temperatures to Peak on July 29
The charts show the mercury climbing into the mid-30s in the hottest areas, while large parts of England are also forecast to reach or exceed 30C. Particularly high temperatures are shown across the South East, London and further inland. The weather maps suggest next Wednesday could mark the peak of the hot spell, although high temperatures are expected to continue into the following day.
Continued Warmth into August
On July 30, widespread warmth remains across southern and eastern England. The Met Office's long-range outlook for July 26 to August 4 suggests conditions are likely to remain changeable overall, with a mixture of bright or sunny spells and periods of rain. Rainfall is expected to be focused more towards northwestern areas, although southeastern areas could also see some showers.
The Met Office says there are signs that high pressure could return for a time, potentially bringing a return to drier conditions, particularly in the south. Temperatures during the period are forecast to remain near or above normal, with the warmest conditions expected in southern areas. The Met Office added that it could become "very warm again by the start of August", potentially signalling a further rise in temperatures following the end-of-July period shown on the weather maps.

Twenty-three counties are forecast to hit 30C or higher: Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Greater London, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, Powys, and Wrexham.
