Weather maps indicate that large parts of England are set to enjoy a mini spring heatwave this weekend, with temperatures potentially reaching 21C in some areas — hotter than Ibiza. According to data from WXCharts and the Met Desk, the warm spell is expected to begin on Saturday, April 25, with southern and central regions seeing highs of 18C to 21C by 6pm.
London, the South East, East Anglia, and parts of the Midlands are forecast to be among the warmest spots, with temperatures of 20C across London, Essex, Kent, and Hertfordshire. Parts of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, and the East Midlands could reach 20C or 21C. In the southwest, areas including Bristol, Somerset, and parts of Devon are predicted to see 18C to 19C, while much of Wales will be between 16C and 18C, and northern England between 15C and 18C.
Scotland is expected to be cooler, with western areas reaching 15C or 16C, but northern and eastern parts likely to remain at just 6C to 10C. The warm conditions follow a cooler, unsettled period earlier in the week, offering a pleasant end to April. The forecast highs would surpass Ibiza, where temperatures on Saturday are expected to be around 20C, with a 50% chance of rain later in the day, according to Spanish forecaster AEMET.
The Met Office outlook for Thursday to Saturday states: 'Largely settled this week with plenty of sunshine, and winds easing. Cloudy and cool at times along eastern coasts with an onshore breeze. Warming up in the south and west.' Temperatures have been rising all week, from a high of 17.1C recorded on Monday in Coton-in-the-Elms, Derbyshire.
