A mysterious hairy object has fallen from the sky and landed on a farm in Puerto Tirol, northern Argentina, leaving experts baffled.
The large carbon fibre cylinder, measuring 5.6 feet (1.7 m) long and 3.9 feet (1.2 m) wide, was discovered by landowner Ramón Ricardo González, 47, at around 6.30pm on September 25. The object has a valve system at one end, a 40 cm hole at the other, and a serial number inscribed on it. It is covered in strange black fibres resembling hair.
Local police and fire brigade were called to the scene, along with bomb experts who confirmed the cylinder contains no explosive or hazardous materials. Officials have set up a 100-foot security perimeter as they continue to investigate.
One theory is that the object is space junk, possibly from a recent SpaceX mission. An online stargazer suggested it could be a composite overwrapped pressure vessel from a spaceship, joking there is "no danger to anyone, except if it landed on you."
The incident follows another unexplained event in London, where a woman captured a fireball falling from the sky over Croydon on September 27. The mystery of both objects remains unsolved.
