Heavy rainfall has led to flash floods in several parts of London, causing widespread disruption. Roads have been submerged, stranding cars, and train services have been cancelled or delayed.
Social media images showed affected areas in south-west London including Barnes, Raynes Park, and Richmond, as well as north London locations such as Golders Green and Highgate. The London Fire Brigade reported receiving over 150 calls about flooding in south-west London alone.
Police in south-west London advised drivers to avoid the area around Raynes Park station, warning that roads were flooded and dangerous. In Hammersmith, people were evacuated from buildings after flooding hit Colville Terrace, Holland Road, and Ladbroke Grove.
A lightning strike damaged signalling at Epsom, affecting trains between London Waterloo and Dorking. Operators warned that trains could be cancelled or delayed, advising commuters to check before travelling.
