People across the Yorkshire Dales were shaken awake by an earthquake on Sunday morning. A minor earthquake struck near the town of Sedbergh at around 4am, registering a magnitude of 2.2 according to the British Geological Survey (BGS).
Quake recorded across Yorkshire
The quake was recorded by BGS stations across Yorkshire including at Ingleton, Selside, Carlton, Slaidburn, Winston and Skipton. While relatively small, the sudden tremor sent vibrations and "loud rumbles" through nearby homes, prompting locals to check if their neighbours felt the ground move, Yorkshire Live reports.
