Wales is set to see temperatures hit 30°C within days as a new heatwave develops, following the record-breaking heatwave in late June that saw temperatures approach 36°C. That exceptional heatwave led to school closures and a Met Office red weather warning. After a brief cooldown, temperatures are rising again, and a prolonged warm spell is expected.
Prolonged Heatwave Expected
BBC Wales weatherman Derek Brockway said the upcoming heatwave "may last longer" than the previous one. On Saturday, the warmest spot in Wales was Usk in Monmouthshire, reaching 24.5°C. Brockway added: "Turning warmer next week with another heatwave developing! Temperatures on Thursday and Friday could exceed 30°C! Not quite as hot nor humid as the last heatwave in June but it may last longer!"
Met Office Weather Maps

Tuesday, July 7
The heatwave threshold could be met in Monmouth by Tuesday. Other areas will meet the criteria later in the week.
Wednesday, July 8
Temperatures continue to climb, with Cardiff, Newport, Abergavenny, Monmouth, and Wrexham all seeing temperatures above 25°C.
Thursday, July 9
