London Luton Airport has issued a stark warning to holidaymakers, reminding them that disruptive behavior at airports can lead to severe consequences. The alert, posted on X (formerly Twitter), urges passengers to "fly responsibly, or you could pay the price."
Penalties for disruption
An accompanying graphic details the potential penalties: refusal of boarding, up to two years in prison, fines up to £5,000, and diversion fees up to £80,000. The warning applies not only to Luton but to passengers departing from many other UK airports.
One Too Many campaign
The message is part of the One Too Many campaign, a cross-industry initiative launched in 2018. It is led by the UK Travel Retail Forum (UKTRF), the Airport Operators Association (AOA), Airlines UK, and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The campaign highlights the personal and legal repercussions of disruptive conduct at airports.
Display at major airports
The One Too Many message is now displayed at several major UK airports, including London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester, Liverpool John Lennon, Newcastle International, and Bristol.
Karen Dee, Chief Executive of the Airport Operators Association, said: "UK airports are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers. We urge travellers to enjoy their journeys responsibly and not ruin their holidays or the holidays of others. Airports will continue to monitor and act against any disruptive behaviour to ensure everyone's safety."
