A bright meteor streaked across the Colorado sky early Sunday morning, causing brief panic among residents. The fireball was spotted around 3:30am in Broomfield, about 25 minutes north of Denver.
Footage captured the meteor flashing brightly before breaking into smaller pieces and fading out of view. At least 30 people reported seeing the meteor, according to the American Meteor Society.
One onlooker described the event as 'incredible,' noting the meteor was huge and bright with giant sparks. Others were initially confused, with some mistaking it for thunder. A nurse on a night shift said the meteor lit up the entire area with a blue light and cast moving shadows.
The sighting follows a massive fireball over the southern US in July, which generated over 50 reports across multiple states. That event was described as resembling fireworks with green, blue, orange, and yellow flashes.
