The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for rain across large parts of the UK, with heavy downpours expected on Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, a warning covering Wales and parts of western England, including Cardiff, Bangor, Liverpool and Exeter, will be in place from 8am to 11.59pm. Forecasters predict up to 40mm of rain in a few hours, with the possibility of thunderstorms.
Another warning comes into effect on Tuesday for areas including Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and much of Scotland, lasting from 8am to 8pm. The Met Office warned of 'torrential downpours' with 15-20mm falling in under an hour in some spots.
The warnings coincide with St Swithin's Day on 15 July, which folklore says dictates the next 40 days' weather. The Met Office also cautioned of a small chance of flooding, power cuts, and dangerous driving conditions due to spray and floodwater.
