Italy has been hit by a powerful tornado as residents in Sicily described the "hellish" weather conditions, saying they were scared of death. The severe weather hit the area this morning, with two tornadoes seen in Marsala, a city in Sicily.
Tornadoes Form Over the Sea
The two funnels developed over the sea as a thunderstorm covered the area not too far from the coast. Residents reported seeing a waterspout forming off the Trapani coastline before the tornado hit.
Residents Describe 'Hell'
The phenomenon left residents fearing they were going to die, with one saying: "I’ve never been afraid of dying like I was a few hours ago. This stuff in 2 minutes became 4 times bigger. I’m still shaking but luckily everything’s ok at my house. It's hell."
Scenes of devastation were reported in the area, with the severe weather causing widespread concern among those affected.
