New weather maps indicate that the UK could experience another heatwave at the end of July, with temperatures surging to a scorching 37C. According to data from WXCHARTS, extreme heat is expected to hit the country on July 31, affecting several regions.
Hottest Regions and Counties
East Sussex and Herefordshire are set to be the hottest parts of the country, with highs of 37C. Nine counties are forecast to see temperatures above 35C, including Surrey, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. The soaring temperatures will mainly affect the West of England near the border with Wales, while coastal areas will enjoy milder conditions up to 26C.
Met Office Forecast for Late July to Early August
Separately, the Met Office forecast for July 25 to August 3 describes a largely changeable period, with many parts likely to see some rain at times. The forecast states: "Rain will spread southeast across most if not all parts of the UK through this weekend, with some showers following. Further bands of rain look likely to spread southeast next week, interspersed with sunny spells and some showers."
Confidence becomes lower as the turn of the month approaches, but there are hints that high pressure could return, which would mean dry conditions resuming, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, but occasionally fresh or strong around some coasts, mainly in the north. Temperatures will be near or above normal, warmest in the south, and perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.
