Weather maps from WX Charts, using MetDesk data, have forecast an unseasonable cold snap for parts of the UK next week, with snow predicted to hit from the early hours of Thursday, May 14, to the afternoon of Friday, May 15.
The charts show snowfall mainly over Scotland, with three areas—Aberdeenshire, Highland, and Perth and Kinross—expected to see up to three centimetres on the highest ground. Temperatures in Scotland could drop as low as -2C, particularly around Fort William.
Further south, parts of Wales are also set for flurries, with Powys likely to be affected on high ground in the early hours of Friday, May 15.
The Met Office's long-range forecast for May 11 to May 20 describes conditions as “changeable and at times rather unsettled,” with low pressure often close by. It warns of periods of rain or showers, some heavy, though drier interludes are expected. Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly below normal, with a chance of brief warmer, more humid interludes from the near continent, potentially bringing thunderstorms to parts of England and Wales.
