The Met Office has forecast temperatures up to 32°C in parts of the UK later this month, but meteorologists stress it will not rival the record-breaking heatwave seen in May.
After a cold and rainy start to June, temperatures are expected to rise from next week. Forecasts show highs of 27°C on Thursday June 18, climbing to 32°C on Monday June 22 and Tuesday June 23, according to Netweather maps.
Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: "It's worth noting at this point, although it is going to be a warm weekend, we're not expecting temperatures anywhere close to the May heatwave temperatures, but they certainly will be above average and higher than they have been recently." She added that UV and pollen levels will also be high.
The Met Office's long-range forecast for June 16 to 25 indicates a changeable period with rain in the north and northwest, but high pressure is expected to become more dominant, bringing dry, settled, and very warm conditions, especially in the south.
