Britain is set to be hit by a massive 450-mile blizzard, with 29 towns and cities across the country bracing for significant snowfall. Weather maps from WXCHARTS indicate that an Arctic blast will arrive on Monday, February 16, bringing freezing temperatures and deep snow accumulations.
Perth and Kinross in Scotland is expected to bear the worst of the storm, with forecasters predicting snow depths of up to 130cm. Aberdeenshire could see around 35cm, while the Scottish Highlands may experience up to 26cm. The entire nation of Scotland is forecast to receive some snowfall.
In England, the North East is predicted to face the heaviest snow, with depths of up to 12cm. Cumbria is expected to see 11cm, Durham 9cm, and Yorkshire and the Humber up to 8cm. The Midlands will not escape entirely, with around 2cm anticipated. Further south, Kent may see 1cm of snow.
Wales is also in the firing line, with north Wales and parts of mid-Wales possibly receiving up to 3cm. Meanwhile, Suffolk and Norfolk could see 2cm. Temperatures are set to plummet, with parts of the Scottish Highlands and Perth and Kinross forecast to drop to -4C. Central Scotland may experience -2C, while northern England will hover around 0C.
The dramatic return to winter conditions comes despite hopes that February would bring milder weather. Residents are advised to prepare for travel disruptions and hazardous conditions as the blizzard sweeps across the nation.
