North East to See Warmer Temperatures Again Next Week
North East Warmer Temperatures Return Next Week

The North East is experiencing cooler temperatures this week after a heatwave that saw the mercury touch 30°C in the region. A number of weather warnings were issued last week as the UK baked in record-breaking temperatures. The North East also had alerts, including one for heat and another for thunderstorms. Thunder and lightning were experienced by many across the region, to the extent that one school had to close after being hit by lightning. A family home in South Tyneside was also struck by lightning.

Current Conditions and Forecast

This week, the region is seeing temperatures in the low 20s, bringing cooler air. According to the Met Office, Newcastle will see highs of 22°C this week. On Tuesday, there is to be rain, occasionally heavy with a risk of thunder, in the afternoon.

Warmer Weather on the Way

However, it appears that warmer weather is on its way again next week. While it won't be nearly as hot as the heatwave temperatures last week, the mercury will rise to around 25°C in the North East. Weather maps from WXCharts show that the temperature will increase to 25°C by midday on Tuesday, July 7. Southern and eastern parts of the country are likely to get highs of 29°C that day. The chart shows it will still be that warm at 6pm on July 7. And it stays warm the following day, Wednesday, July 8, with highs of 24°C in the North East, though it's much hotter down south, with some areas reaching 31°C. Subsequent days appear to drop down to the low 20s in the North East.
