The Met Office has forecast heavy rain to hit nearly all of Scotland and parts of northern England on Monday, September 14, with 34 areas named in its forecast as the heaviest downpours are expected near Stornoway.
Heavy rain expected across Scotland and northern England
According to the agency's forecast for Monday, rain is set to drench nearly all of Scotland and sections of northern England. While some areas of Scotland may dodge the downpour, maps indicate that every county will experience wet conditions. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated in the far north of Scotland near Stornoway.
As for England, Cumbria and Lancashire in the north west are forecast to be hit by rain on Monday. Flashes of orange appear on Met Office weather maps near the Lake District, suggesting this area will bear the brunt of the downpour.
Warm temperatures expected in the south
The Met Office's forecast for Monday reads: "Warm and humid in the south with cloudy skies, although some brighter spells are possible. A dry start in the north, before heavy rain moves into Northern Ireland and Scotland."
While the north of the UK will see rainfall, the Met Office has also predicted warm temperatures, particularly in the south. London could see highs of 25C, while Manchester and Cardiff could reach 22C, according to the forecast. It's also likely to hit 20C in parts of Scotland.
