Greater Manchester weather: Sunshine before thunderstorm risk
GM weather: Sunshine before thunderstorm risk

Sunshine is set to return to Greater Manchester this weekend after a period of heavy rain, with temperatures climbing before a possible return of thunderstorms next week.

The Met Office forecasts late-August sun over the coming days, following a thunderstorm warning issued last Wednesday (August 19) amid heavy downpours. Parts of the UK experienced their 'first meaningful rain for a long time' after dry spells and five heatwaves this year.

Weekend outlook

Saturday (August 22) is expected to be dry all day with sunny spells and some fair weather cloud, with temperatures around 20C. Sunday is tipped as the best day to spend outdoors, with plenty of late August sunshine and highs of 21C.
