Three people, including a 10-month-old baby girl, have died after a 30-metre tree was toppled by high winds during an Easter egg hunt in northern Germany on Sunday.
The incident occurred near Satrupholm at around 11 am, with approximately 50 individuals from a nearby residential facility for new mothers, pregnant women, and children participating in the event, police said.
A 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old's 10-month-old daughter later died from her injuries in hospital. An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.
The facility is part of the state-funded child welfare system, supporting vulnerable pregnant women and new mothers. Grief counsellors were dispatched to the site.
Images from the scene showed scattered Easter eggs amid the tragedy. The German weather service had issued a high-winds warning for the area.
