Fresh weather maps indicate another spell of scorching weather could arrive in just over a week, with temperatures expected to reach 28C across 14 counties.
The latest maps from WXCharts show a plume of much warmer air sweeping across southern and eastern England on Monday, September 7. Temperatures are predicted to rise widely into the mid-to-high 20s, with a vast stretch of the country shown hitting 27C to 28C by 6pm.
Where the hottest conditions are expected
The most sweltering conditions are focused across London, the South East, East of England and parts of the Midlands, according to the model which runs from the early hours on Saturday, August 29. The mercury could soar even higher in some areas, with the maps displaying temperatures peaking at 29C, particularly across southern England, while temperatures drop away considerably further north and west.
A temperature anomaly map also reveals a stark divide across Britain, with southern England predicted to be significantly warmer than the 1991-2020 climate average, while cooler-than-average conditions are indicated across parts of northern Britain.
North-south split forecast
The South East appears set to experience some of the most blistering conditions, with temperatures hitting 28C across London, the Home Counties and towards East Anglia. Further west, temperatures of around 25C to 27C are displayed across parts of southern England and the West Country.
Much of Wales is predicted to reach the low-to-mid 20s, falling short of the peak temperatures further east. A distinct north-south split is also evident, with areas of northern England expected to hit around 20C to 23C, reports the Express.
Weather conditions are set to be markedly cooler throughout Scotland, where temperatures are typically forecast in the mid-to-high teens. Nevertheless, certain areas of Scotland may still witness the mercury rising towards 20C.
