A TUI flight from Corfu made an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport on Monday after suffering a burst tyre mid-air. The aircraft, which had declared an emergency, landed safely with all passengers disembarking without injury.
The incident caused significant disruption, with all departing flights grounded temporarily. Incoming flights were diverted to nearby Birmingham Airport as airport staff worked to move the aircraft. Some passengers reported being stuck on the tarmac for over an hour.
An East Midlands Airport spokesperson said: 'We have accepted a diverted TUI aircraft from Birmingham Airport after it declared an emergency with a punctured tyre. It has landed safely and all passengers have disembarked.' The airport later confirmed the runway had reopened and advised passengers to check with their airlines for updates.
