Teen and pensioner killed in light aircraft crash in Stirling

A 16-year-old boy and an 80-year-old man have died following a light aircraft crash in Stirling. Emergency services were called to reports of a collision north-east of Drymen at around 4.45pm on Friday.

Police confirmed that the next of kin of both victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene, have been informed.

Airspace restrictions imposed

Following the crash, temporary airspace restrictions, including a ban on drones, have been put in place around the village. These are likely to remain in effect for some time to allow the Air Accidents Investigation Branch to conduct its investigations, Police Scotland said.

Officers have warned that it is a criminal offence to fly in restricted airspace.

Investigation ongoing

The restrictions are intended to secure the area while investigators examine the circumstances of the incident. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
