Ryanair flight FR661 declared an emergency shortly after takeoff from Birmingham due to a medical incident involving a passenger. The aircraft landed safely at Dublin Airport.
The Boeing 737-800 departed Birmingham Airport at 08:37am on Sunday, 26 July 2026, on a routine flight across the Irish Sea to Dublin. As the aircraft descended towards the Irish capital, the crew transmitted squawk code 7700, the universal emergency code.
Emergency Declared Over Irish Sea
According to flight tracking reports from AirLive, the emergency code was issued as the aircraft passed through approximately 8,000 feet over the Irish Sea. Air traffic controllers granted priority landing clearance, and the plane touched down on Runway 28L at Dublin Airport about 40 minutes after departure.
Medical Incident on Board
Emergency ground crews were on standby as the aircraft arrived at gate 109. The emergency was reportedly declared following a medical incident involving a passenger. The Mirror has contacted Ryanair for comment.
