A massive overnight drone strike on the Moscow region has set an oil refinery ablaze, injured 28 people, and forced the evacuation of a maternity hospital and an apartment block, according to regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The attack, believed to be a long-range assault from Ukraine, targeted the Noginsk oil depot, a key fuel storage and logistics hub.

Governor Vorobyov reported that a total of 48 drones were shot down over the Moscow region during the night. Despite the interception, some drones reached their targets, causing multiple explosions and a large fire at the Noginsk oil depot. The facility contains 24 storage tanks with a combined capacity of 11,500 cubic metres. Dramatic images and videos shared online show huge plumes of black smoke rising into the sky as flames engulfed the site.

In addition to the oil depot fire, the attack led to the evacuation of a maternity hospital and an apartment block in the area. Emergency services are on the scene, working to contain the blaze and treat the injured. The depot is understood to be one of the Moscow region's key fuel storage and logistics hubs, with traders and fuel companies using the site to store and transport petroleum products.
