A Jet2 flight from Tenerife South Airport to London Stansted was evacuated after a reported bomb threat before take-off. Passengers had already begun boarding flight LS1536, which was due to leave for London Stansted at 11.20am on Friday, when they were told to get off the aircraft for security reasons.
Security checks and departure
Guardia Civil officers checked the plane following reports that a person had made a bomb threat, according to Spanish news outlet Atlantic Hoy. Passengers and their luggage were also checked before the aircraft was cleared to depart.
The flight eventually left Tenerife at 2.01pm and landed safely at London Stansted at 5.49pm, according to tracking website Flightradar24.
Impact on other flights
The incident also appeared to cause disruption to other flights at Tenerife South Airport, with delays recorded during the afternoon.
A Jet2 spokesperson told the Metro: “We can confirm that customers were asked to disembark a flight at Tenerife South Airport today following an incident involving a passenger onboard.
“Customers have since reboarded and the flight has now landed at London Stansted as planned. We would like to apologise to everyone onboard for the delay and any inconvenience caused.”
