Flight LS896, operating from Antalya, Turkey, to Manchester, was approximately three hours and forty minutes into its nearly five-hour journey when the altercation erupted. Video footage circulated on social media platforms shows two men engaged in a heated shouting match and physical fight in the aisle of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Fellow passengers attempted to intervene and separate the individuals, but the situation escalated to the point where the flight crew deemed it necessary to divert.
Emergency Landing in Brussels
The aircraft, which had departed from Terminal 2 at Antalya Airport around 6:11 PM local time, was rerouted to Brussels Airport. Upon landing, Belgian police were waiting to arrest the two disruptive passengers. The flight was subsequently able to continue its journey to Manchester after the individuals were removed. Jet2 confirmed that the passengers will face a lifetime ban from flying with the airline and stated it will "vigorously pursue them" to recover the costs associated with the diversion, including fuel, landing fees, and potential compensation for other affected travellers.
