A fire has caused extensive damage to Langrove Health Club in Parkmill, Gower, with ten fire crews attending the scene on Friday night. The blaze started in the sauna room and spread to the rest of the complex, requiring firefighters to work through the night to bring it under control.
Firefighters battle through the night
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 8.27pm on Friday, August 14. Crews from Swansea Central, Reynoldston, Morriston, Llanelli, Cymmer, Amman Valley, Port Talbot, Tumble, Swansea West and Gorseinon were dispatched to the scene.
The fire service statement said: "The crews responded to a fire in the sauna room, which then spread to the rest of the complex. Crew members worked through the night to bring the fire under control and protect surrounding properties, using main jets, hose reel jets and a turntable ladder." Three water bowsers were also in attendance.
Residents evacuated, significant damage
Residents were evacuated from their homes, with emergency housing provided overnight. Photos from the scene show significant damage to the property, which is popular for its gym, heated pool and sauna.
Crews left the scene at 07:18am on Saturday, August 15. South Wales Police and Langrove Health Club have been contacted for comment.
