Community Shield moves to TNT Sports, off free-to-air TV

The Community Shield match between Arsenal and Manchester City will not be shown on free-to-air television this year, with coverage moving exclusively to TNT Sports and HBO Max.

Match details and venue

The fixture takes place on Sunday, August 16, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with kick-off at 3pm BST. The match brings together the reigning Premier League champions, Arsenal, and last season's FA Cup winners, Manchester City. Arsenal secured the title with one game to spare, while City beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

This year's clash is held in the Welsh capital because of a scheduling clash, as The Weeknd's 'After Hours til Dawn' tour takes place at Wembley on the same day, the traditional venue for the fixture.

Broadcast rights change

ITV, which has long been associated with the Community Shield, has lost the rights to broadcast the match. Coverage has moved to a subscription service, with the game shown live and exclusively on TNT Sports and their streaming service HBO Max. Coverage on TNT Sports 1 is due to start at 2pm and wrap up at approximately 6pm.

The FA confirmed the official broadcasters in a statement released ahead of the fixture. "Fans can tune in to watch the 2026 FA Community Shield across the globe, with this year's competition set to take place this weekend," it read. "The match will be contested by the 2025-26 Premier League champions Arsenal and the 2026 Emirates FA Cup winners Manchester City. Cardiff's Principality Stadium will host the match, with viewers able to watch the game live on TNT Sports 1 and HBO Max, and the kick-off time will be at 3pm BST."

Fans can watch the game on TNT Sports via HBO Max or Prime Video's HBO Max channel. TNT Sports are now the rights holders to the competition and will be showing this game on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.
